Farmopolis

Farmopolis Flowers DSC_6478

Farmopolis ⇒ is an ambitious project very near to the O2 arena on the Greenwich Peninsula.  At present only a very small part has been built and is still a work in progress.  It consists of a small café/restaurant with some indoor and outdoor seating and surrounded by plants rescued from the Chelsea Flower Show.  These plantings should be complete by the end of August 2016.

Like many such venues I found the food and drink rather pricey and pretentious, but there are plenty of places nearby where a picnic can be enjoyed. There are events ⇒ at the site and the flowers are worth seeing.

Below is a view from the United Emirates Cable Car ⇐.

    • Not bad. Should be more in a couple of weeks, so I’ll probably go again. 🙂

  2. The view from above isn’t nearly as enticing as the ones from inside…which looks hot. Is it?
Also, what makes the plants rescues? What future were they facing at/after the show?

    • Not hot and may not fare well when the weather turns.
Apparently they would normally be destroyed after the show. I suppose they are only produced to advertise the producing companies.
Although some dug a tunnel, escaped, joined a band of delinquent Triffids and were last seen terrorising an itinerant shoe tasseler. Would you believe it ?

      I’ve got a chocolate biscuit. 😀

      Have a nice day. 🙂

      • I absolutely believe you have a chocolate biscuit. Or rather, that you did have one. It seems unlikely that you’d have advertised that you had one, and that you still have the same biscuit.
The escapees of course ran off with the Triffids.Which I always think of when the sunflowers wilt at the end of the season.

        • You are very astute. The biscuit is no more. It has shuffled of this mortal coil.
In other news: The dish ran away with the spoon.
Always nice to hear from you and I hope all is well.
          🙂
