Squirrels with Altitude
I’ve always considered myself to be quite animal friendly, and animals quite friendly to me. Nevertheless, at the south east corner of St James’s Park Lake, I was quite surprised by this.
I discovered why squirrels are so good at climbing trees. Those little claws are sharp.
When he or she looked up and realised that this tree had a face, there was a quick scamper off behind a real tree.
it.
There was another one.
At first I thought this must be the same squirrel, but a close examination of the whiskers shows a variation and there is slightly darker patch at the left shoulder. I think they must have been siblings and the little scamps were playing “Anything you can do, I can do better”.
Even the geese were surprised.
Wha’ the ~.
Still, they were only having fun in their own squirrely way. Good on them, they make me laugh and I feel quite privileged to have had squirrels up my leg.
There are more squirrels at the Great Nut Heist.
oh my!!! in the us they carry bubonic plague in fleas!!!!

It’s alright. The only thing they carry here, is whatever they can lay their mitts on. 😀

Yes, but each one was of several that were all blur. I didn’t see it coming the second time, just a sharp pain in the leg. Sometimes good things come of the unexpected. 🙂 I suppose. 🙂

Thanks for dropping by. You’re not kidding, cheeky. I had to go back and take some food. I got mugged. I’ve got the pictures to prove it although it might be a while before I publish then . I’m rather caught up in the WP nuisance and Xmas at the moment.
I really like the pictures on your blog , I know how difficult it is to capture wildlife like squirrels.
Merry Xmas to you.

Thanks to you too 🙂 I would love to see the pictures of the squirrel mugging. Feeding them sounds like a fun, albeit risky, idea….

That’s a new one for me! I’ve had them eat by my side before, but never climb up it. I imagine it feels nearly like when my cats attempt it – which is to say unpleasant. Cute though.

Wasn’t too bad, just surprising. I went back and got mugged (by the wildlife). Post it soon.

They treat the screened-in cage over our pool like the interstate. They are cute, but quite cheeky. Love the photos. 😉

Quite familiar with sharp claws climbing up my pant legs, thanks to little Mini. A squirrel attempting to do this would be cause for great joy…but two?? You won 🙂

I got to laughing at you and these fat squirrels in the park! My squirrels are a much thinner lot or they quickly become dinner for the hawk. Still the cheekiest critters on the place. Thank you for sharing pictures with us.

You must leaf me alone until you get to the root of the matter. Otherwise you will be barking up the wrong tree which will sap my will to live and I will become ashen while I pine away having got the needle until I’m spruced up .
You shouldn’t tempt me, I’m bloomin’ ‘orrible. 😀
